To the Arcata Planning Commission,
I have heard that members of the public are encouraged to voice their opinion on an upcoming decision about to be made concerning our neighborhood.
I have lived on R Street for 41 years and indeed our neighborhood has changed. I appreciate my neighbors who keep their homes and yards up.
Part of the beauty of our neighborhood and the city of Arcata is the open space of farmland and the Arcata bottom area.
It seems to me the people who run the city i.e. planning commission and Council do not have the residents interests in sight. You want to promote your own view of the city. You have lost sight of the quaint beauty of a rural area which is a draw of tourists and visitors. This brings money into our area.
Cal Poly Humboldt is a driving force in our area but I implore you, do not let it define us. Arcata will grow but I would like to see more business in the area, not more housing.
I am not attending this meeting as I do not get off work until 6:30 pm. I’m sending it in with my neighbor.
Please consider our views.
Sincerely,
Donna Hammers
