Councilmembers,
Item XI.A on your Wednesday agenda involves revisiting the Council’s March 1 decision to set a July 2023 deadline for the Planning Commission to complete its review and recommendation on the draft Gateway Plan, the accompanying form‐based code, and the rest of the General Plan update.
This item is returning to you because of some concerns about proper procedure. However, nothing substantive has changed. In particular, the urgency of addressing the city’s housing, transportation, and climate needs through responsible, walkable infill development remains the same. CRTP strongly urges you to keep the July 2023 deadline for
the draft documents, so that the timeline for environmental review and final adoption can also remain on schedule. This process began years ago, and has already been substantially delayed. We can’t afford to wait any longer.
Thank you.
